Ways To Use Metro Tiles

Are you looking for a sleek, modern design for your kitchen or bathroom? Instead of the traditional square tile, why not go with something more original? Metro tiles might be what you’re looking for. Don’t let the basic rectangle fool you. It’s customizable to fit any style. You can stick to the traditional white, add in a pop of color, change up the pattern, and more! Here are a few ways you can use this unique tile:

Work with a pattern.

Even with how simple the tile is, it always has a way of catching your eye. Let the pattern do the talking for you. Choose from:

  • A linear pattern is where the tiles are placed horizontally to create a wider space or vertically for a taller space.
  • A brick wall pattern alternates where the edges of the metro tile meet at the halfway point of each row.
  • A herringbone pattern is where you create a V shape with two metro tiles. They can face up, down, or even go diagonally along the wall.
  • A basketweave pattern is where you will alternate the tiles vertically and horizontally along the wall.

Add in some color.

Traditional white may not be the style you’re looking for. With the variety of tile layouts, you have the opportunity to play with colors. You can stick to one color for the entire wall, break it up with a line of color, or play with a pattern of color.

Consider a feature wall.

If you don’t want your entire room to be covered in tile, a featured wall is a perfect option! It can help break a larger room up, or it can expand a smaller room. This is also a great space to play with colors and patterns without it feeling overwhelming.
